Play it before you pay for it
Your search, knit to cloth. Below: a cost tool, then how to vet a studio.
What a real Roblox game development company proves before you pay.
You searched for a Roblox game development company. Most listings are agencies with a bench you will never meet, or blog posts that restate the keyword. What you actually need is someone who ships places that stay server-authoritative under exploiters and store player data without corrupting it.
A big studio's invoice carries producers, account managers, and a junior actually on the keys. On a single Roblox commission, most of that overhead buys meetings, not gameplay. One senior builder who has shipped live places can beat that on both craft and price — if they can prove it, which is what this page helps you check.
I'm David Weaver — engineer, novelist, and Roblox developer with games you can open and play right now. Start with the cost tool below; it turns a vague "how much" into a planning number. Then read what to actually inspect before you hire anyone, me included.

What separates a real Roblox studio from a logo
Six things a competent Roblox developer does by default. Ask about each one before money moves — the answers sort the shippers from the pitch decks fast.
Server-authoritative logic
The server owns currency, inventory, and state. If a client can grant itself items or Robux-worth of value, the economy is already dead.
Exploit resistance
Every RemoteEvent is validated on the server. Injectors and executors are assumed present, not hoped away. The client asks; it never decides.
A DataStore that never eats saves
Session locking, UpdateAsync over SetAsync, retries with backoff. Ask exactly what happens when a save fails as a player leaves.
Monetization wired correctly
Gamepasses for permanent perks, developer products for consumables, with idempotent receipt handling so nobody is double-charged or double-granted.
Mobile-first UI
Most Roblox sessions are phones and tablets. If the shop, HUD, and controls don't work with a thumb, most of your players bounce on the first minute.
Live places, not a reel
A portfolio you can open in the app and play now, on your own phone, without it falling over. Video hides the frame drops and the exploited economy.
03
Why one builder can undercut a whole studio
Robux flows the same whether the Luau came from a forty-person org or one senior developer. What matters is whether the server is authoritative and the DataStore is safe — and neither of those needs a producer, an account manager, or a status meeting. A solo builder deletes the layers between the person deciding and the person typing the code, so more of your budget becomes gameplay instead of overhead.
The tradeoff is honest, and I'll name it: one person has finite capacity. Timelines are real, not parallelized across a bench, and I build one game at a time. You trade a studio's throughput for a single accountable hand and no overhead tax. For most single-game commissions, that is the better trade — but if you need three titles shipped in parallel next quarter, hire the bench.

Big studio vs. one senior builder, for a single game
Same budget, one Roblox title. This is where the money actually goes.
| Factor | Big studio | Senior independent (me) |
|---|---|---|
| Who writes the Luau | A junior you won't meet | The person you hired |
| Overhead on your invoice | Producers, PMs, account layer | None — one hand |
| Server-authority + anti-exploit | Varies by who's assigned | Baseline on every place |
| Throughput | Parallel benches | Finite — one game at a time |
Scope and pricing are itemized free. The tool above turns your feature list into a planning number before any call.

Bring three things and I can quote fast
The quickest path to a real number is a brief with three parts: the core loop (what a player does in the first two minutes), the economy (what they earn, what they spend it on), and the platform you care about most. With those, I can split the afternoon work from the month of work and price them honestly.
If you are still deciding whether the game is worth building at all, the cost-versus-revenue math lives on a separate page — this one is about choosing who builds it. Either way you get a written reply from me, not a templated deck from an inbox nobody reads.

Straight answers
Asked often. Answered honestly.
- How do I know a Roblox studio's game is actually server-authoritative?
- Ask them to describe exactly how currency is granted. If any part of the answer trusts the client, walk away. In a safe game the server validates every RemoteEvent and owns balances; the client only requests. Better still, open their live game and try to give yourself items — a shippable studio can survive that test.
- What's the difference between a gamepass and a developer product for monetization?
- A gamepass is a one-time permanent purchase — a VIP door, an extra pet slot. A developer product is repeatable: coins, revives, a spin. Consumables must be developer products with idempotent receipt handling so a player is never double-charged or double-granted. A studio that conflates the two will cost you refunds and angry reviews.
- Is the cost tool a real quote?
- No — it's a free, client-side planning tool. You pick your mechanics, whether you need a DataStore economy, and your monetization, and it returns a neighborhood, not an invoice. Send me the output with your brief and I'll itemize an exact number.
- Can you rescue a game another studio left with a broken DataStore?
- Often yes. Data loss and rollbacks usually trace to SetAsync without session locking, or missing retry logic on save. A rescue is scoped work: I read the code, find where saves fail, and fix the save path before touching new features.
- Will my game actually work on phones?
- It has to. The majority of Roblox sessions are mobile, so I design the controls, shop, and HUD for a thumb first and scale up to desktop. A game that only feels right on a PC has already lost most of its audience.
- Do you guarantee players or Robux revenue?
- No. Anyone guaranteeing visits or earnings is selling weather. I guarantee the build: server-authoritative, exploit-resistant, safe saves, clean monetization, and honest reporting. Discovery and retention depend on your game and your marketing, and I'll say so before you commit.
Price your build with the tool above, then send the brief with thread "A game." I'll tell you the cost, the timeline, or that a bigger studio is the better fit.
