The line I wanted
Loyalty, betrayal, love, power — that's the catalog. The store had one requirement: nothing between the reader and me. Not a marketplace, not a feed, not a 30% toll.
The build
Clerk handles identity. Neon and Drizzle hold the catalog and purchases. Cloudflare R2 serves the files, and epub.js turns the purchase into a book you're reading thirty seconds later — in the browser, no app install, no DRM theater. The DNS zone file is committed next to the code; I own this thing down to the records.
Why it matters here
This is the publishing thread and the software thread woven in one object: an author who can build his own machine doesn't wait for permission to sell his own work.
