Wyndham Clark's girlfriend out-searched the tournament on Sunday. Four things about her are actually sourced
Searches for Emily Tanner spiked during the 3M Open's final round. Almost everything published about her recycles a handful of facts, plus an age, a net worth and an engagement that nobody has ever sourced. Here is the difference.

Somewhere in the middle of Sunday's final round at TPC Twin Cities, more people were searching for Emily Tanner than for most of the field. She was not playing. She has never played. She is Wyndham Clark's girlfriend, and this happens whenever he is on camera on a Sunday.
The interest is real, and it deserves a real answer instead of the twelfth identical profile. So we did the thing the twelfth identical profile does not do: we went through the claims circulating about her and graded each one on whether it can actually be sourced.
Four of them hold up. Five do not.
The four that hold up
They went public at the 2026 Masters. Tanner appeared with Clark at Augusta National in April, including at the Par 3 Contest, and Clark spoke about her publicly at the time. Coverage from the tournament week is consistent across outlets. This is the one relationship fact that is genuinely established.
She co-founded a marketing agency. She is reported as a co-founder of Over Social Agency, a California-based influencer and marketing firm, with another Michigan native. Her own professional profile carries the same affiliation. This is the part of her public identity that is her own work, and it is the part most coverage mentions last, if at all.
She is from metro Detroit and went to Michigan State. Reported consistently: a Michigan native who attended Michigan State in the mid-2010s and took a degree in public health. It is also, not coincidentally, the easiest claim on this list to check.
She attended the 2026 U.S. Open. Which Clark won — his second national championship, at Shinnecock Hills in June, by a single stroke at 4 under, wire to wire, after a final round in which a six-shot lead nearly evaporated.
That is the record. Four things.
The five that do not
Her age. One outlet printed a number. Everything else repeats it without attribution. Forty pages carrying the same unsourced line is one source, not forty, and we do not print ages we cannot verify.
Her follower count. A figure of around 731,000 appears in coverage from June. Follower counts move daily. A number reported once in June is not a fact about today, and any page presenting one as current without a date attached is guessing.
A net worth. Net-worth figures for private individuals are, with very few exceptions, invented. There is no filing, no disclosure and no credible basis for any number attached to her name. These figures exist because they perform well in search, and nothing stops them.
An engagement or marriage. We found no announcement from either of them and no reporting attributed to anyone in a position to know. Search demand for this question is high, which is exactly why it gets answered by people with nothing to answer it with. Absent a public statement from the two people involved, the honest answer is that it is not public.
A previous career as a nursing assistant. This appears in profile coverage but traces back to a single line rather than anything independently verifiable. It may well be true. It is not something we would state as fact on what is currently available.
Grade the Claims
What is actually on the record about Emily Tanner, and what is aggregation filling space
The claims circulating about Wyndham Clark's girlfriend, each graded against what can genuinely be sourced — with the ones that have no basis in the public record marked as exactly that.
Emily Tanner and Wyndham Clark are in a relationship, and went public at the 2026 Masters.
ConfirmedMultiple outlets covering the tournament reported the two together at Augusta National in April, including Tanner appearing with Clark at the Par 3 Contest. Clark spoke about her publicly at the time. This is the one relationship fact that is genuinely on the record.

ConfirmedReported consistently: a Michigan native who attended Michigan State in the mid-2010s and took a degree in public health. The Michigan State connection is the detail most often repeated accurately, probably because it is the easiest one to check.
She attended the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, which Clark won.
ConfirmedWidely covered during the championship in June, and the result itself is a matter of record: Clark won his second U.S. Open by a stroke at 4 under, wire to wire, after nearly surrendering a six-shot final-round lead.

UnknownOne outlet printed an age; the rest of the results repeat it without attribution. A single unattributed line copied across dozens of pages is not two sources, it is one. We do not print ages we cannot source, and there is no public reason a reader needs this one.
Her Instagram following is 731,000.
UnknownThat figure appears in coverage from around the U.S. Open in June. Follower counts move every day, and a number printed once in June is not a fact about today. Any page presenting a follower count as current, without a date attached, is guessing.
The couple are engaged or married.
UnknownWe found no announcement from either of them and no reporting attributed to anyone who would know. Search interest in this question is high, which is precisely why it gets answered by people with nothing to answer it with. Absent a public statement, the honest answer is that it is not public — and it is not our business.
She has a stated net worth.
UnknownNet-worth figures for people who are not public companies are, almost without exception, invented. They circulate because they generate clicks and because nothing stops them. There is no filing, no disclosure and no credible basis for any figure attached to her name.
She worked as a nursing assistant before founding the agency.
UnknownThis appears in profile coverage but traces to a single line rather than an independently verifiable record. It is plausible and may well be accurate; it is not something we would state as fact on what is currently available.
How this is calculated
Each claim is graded on the strength of its sourcing, not on how often it appears. 'Confirmed' means the claim is supported by a first-party record or by independent outlets that are not obviously copying one another. 'Disputed' means credible sources contradict each other. 'Unknown' means we could not find a responsible basis for the claim — including claims that are probably true but rest on a single aggregator, and claims about private matters that no one has announced. Volume of repetition counts for nothing: a detail printed by forty sites that all lifted it from one post is still single-sourced. Where a figure changes over time, such as a follower count, it is recorded with the date it was reported rather than presented as current.

Assumptions, limitations & sources
Assumptions
- · Claims are graded as of July 26, 2026.
- · Coverage of a public figure's professional record and public appearances is treated differently from claims about private matters, which are left unresolved by design.
Limitations
- · An 'unknown' grade is not a denial. It records that we found no responsible basis for the claim, which is a statement about the evidence, not about the person.
- · Aggregator profiles copy one another quickly. A claim that looks multiply sourced can trace back to a single unattributed post, and the grades reflect that risk.
- · Details about private life are deliberately not investigated here. If something is not public, this newsroom's position is that it stays that way.
- · This is a snapshot. Anything either party announces publicly would change several grades at once, and the map would need re-verifying.

Why this pattern exists
None of this is an accident, and it is worth understanding as a media story rather than a golf one.
"Athlete's girlfriend" is one of the most reliable search patterns in sports. Demand spikes on a predictable schedule — every broadcast, every leaderboard appearance — and the supply of genuine information does not grow to match it. The gap gets filled by pages assembled from other pages: same four facts, padded with an age, a height, a net worth and a relationship-status guess, none of which required anyone to report anything.
The tell is uniformity. When you read five profiles and they contain the identical five details in a similar order, you have not found five confirmations. You have found one source and four copies. And the details most likely to have been invented are the ones easiest to type and hardest to check: numbers.
What we are not doing
We are not going to find out whether they are engaged.
Emily Tanner is a public figure in the ordinary sense — she runs a business, she has a large public following, she appears at televised events. Her professional record is fair game and it is in the map above. Her private life is not a newsroom's assignment simply because a lot of people typed a question into a search box.
The source map above marks private, unannounced matters as unknown. That is not a marker awaiting investigation. It is the finished answer.
The questions readers are asking
Who is Emily Tanner? Wyndham Clark's girlfriend, a co-founder of a California influencer marketing agency, a Michigan State graduate from metro Detroit.
When did they start dating? They went public at the 2026 Masters in April. Reporting has placed her at tournaments earlier in the spring. A precise start date is not public and we are not inventing one.
Are Wyndham Clark and Emily Tanner engaged? Not that either has announced. We found nothing sourced.
How old is she? What is she worth? Not reliably sourced, and not reported here.
Did she caddie for him? At the Masters Par 3 Contest — a light-hearted pre-tournament event where family members regularly carry the bag. Not in competition.
How is Wyndham Clark playing? He won the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills in June, his second, and was among the announced commitments for the 3M Open. The tournament's own leaderboard is the place to check any given round, not a profile page about anyone.
The bigger point
There is a version of this story that is just a profile with better sourcing. This is not that. The useful thing to take away is the method: when a name spikes and the supply of facts is thin, ask what each claim is standing on. Usually the answer is one post, copied.
That test works on far more consequential subjects than a golfer's girlfriend. This week it just happens to be a golfer's girlfriend where the whole mechanism is visible at once.
